To promote textile-to-textile recycling worldwide, PUMA Group has revealed a multi-year partnership with RE&UP Recycling Technologies. This alliance strengthens PUMA’s attempts to include more recycled materials into its supply chain and complements its dedication to sustainability.
Building on PUMA’s current RE:FIBRE initiative, the partnership adds RE&UP’s recycled cotton fibres and polyester chips to the brand’s manufacturing network, with a major growth intended in the Americas. Using one hundred percent renewable energy, RE&UP’s unique technology processes blended fabrics, so guaranteeing a smaller environmental impact while providing high-quality recycled materials.
Howard Williams, PUMA’s Director of Global Innovation for Apparel & Accessories, said of the cooperation, “Our work with RE&UP presents interesting opportunities for including virgin-equivalent recycled materials into our designs. Our goal to promote sustainability and innovation throughout our products depends on this action.
This project immediately helps PUMA’s Vision 2030 goal of including 30 per cent fibre-to-fibre recycled polyester in their clothing lines by the end of the decade.
Özgür Atsan, Chief Commercial Officer at RE&UP, underlined the need of this partnership in promoting circularity in the textile sector: One of the most forward-looking companies in the business, PUMA, agrees with us on eliminating the recycled material deficit. Our commitment to making circularity the norm is strengthened by the demonstrated quality of our goods, our capacity to handle various textile compositions, and our emphasis on Next-Gen materials.
PUMA’s cooperation with RE&UP is notable as major fashion and sporting firms start to prioritise sustainability since it helps to lower textile waste and promote a more circular economy inside the sector.
