TOKYO — March 4, 2025 — YKK Corporation has been awarded the prestigious “Orange Innovation Award 2024,” presented by the Dementia Innovation Alliance Working Group (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, METI) on February 19.

The Orange Innovation Award recognizes innovative products and services across industries that address the challenges faced by individuals with dementia, enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives. The award emphasizes the importance of co-creation with people affected by dementia, promoting inclusivity and raising awareness about “development with the participation of people with dementia.” It honors user-friendly solutions developed through collaborative processes and initiatives involving those directly impacted.

YKK’s commitment to “participation-based development” was a key factor in its recognition. The company has worked closely with individuals with dementia to design zippers that are easy to use, incorporating their feedback to refine and improve its products. YKK’s efforts include the development of the click-TRAK® Magnetic Zipper, which uses magnetic force for easy alignment, and other innovative solutions designed for multi-generational use. The company collaborated with a wide range of stakeholders to create these accessible and practical products.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 5, celebrating YKK’s dedication to inclusivity and innovation.
